On the move

Still not had chance to update my website as we are in the process of moving house. Rohan has now gone to a lovely new home near Wolverhampton. We managed a day out to the West of England Border Collie club champ show where Sophie won Puppy Bitch and Nat got the RCC with Viva. Back home and winter is now upon us and the horses are in. Oliver is looking very smart with his trace clip and he continues to be my best boy. We should be moved in the next few weeks so will finally update my website then.

Changes to my website

As I am no longer actively involved in dogs some changes will be made to the website over the next few weeks. The site will remain in place as tribute to some of my lovely dogs but most of the pages will be taken down. Most of my dogs have either been rehomed or are waiting to go to their new homes. It's been an epic journey spanning nearly 30 years and what fun it's been but it's now time to move on. I'm not getting any younger and it's time to pursue other things in life. I would like to thank all the wonderful friends I've met over the years, some of them sadly no longer with us but it's been great and I'll remember the good times always.

Tamarsh Precious Love 19.05.05 ~ 20.10.12

Without doubt the saddest day of my life when I had to say goodbye to my beautiful Lottie at only 7 years old. Far too young to leave but then no amount of time would ever have been enough. My best friend who saw me through some of the worst times of my life. My constant companion and the only dog ever to have been allowed on my bed. To have fought through lymphoma so bravely we thought she was invincible but alas degenerative disk disease took her away from me. Sleep well my beautiful girl there will quite simply never be another you. Your ashes will remain with me for the rest of my life, to come with me on my final journey too so that we are together for eternity. I love you so much xxx

News

Well after what's been another difficult month I though't I'd better update the blog. Alistair and I have split up. Never an easy thing to go through but I'm feeling very positive and enjoying having my independence back. I decided to cut down on the horses and with this in mind Rohan is for sale to a good home. Dee Dee has already gone. Wish and Oliver will be staying with me. Rohan is driving out well and excellent in every way. His advert can be seen on www.dragondriving.co.uk. I will also be rehoming a few more of the dogs some have already gone to lovely homes and at the moment I still have 2 young adult crested bitches available to approved homes. I will not be attending anymore shows with them. I will continue with Mouse in flyball is its a great team sport and there's some lovely people in our team and of course she loves it. On the plus side of everything I'm really excited about my trip to Australia in May next year for my Dad's 70th birthday and also meeting up with my old friend Lucy Tozer.

Looking for a new home

This is ‘George’ he is an approximately 12 month old black Labrador found wandering the streets of St Georges Park, Kirkham, Lancashire. Enquiries with the police, local vets and dog warden have drawn a blank in terms of finding his owners and no-one is looking for him on DogLost etc so it does seem likely that he has been deliberately abandoned :o( The person who found him cannot keep him and all attempts to find him a rescue space have failed (everyone is full!) so I’m afraid he’s landed up here with us rather than face being PTS. He’s been seen by a vet and declared fit and healthy, he has a good recall, plays with toys and fetches, he’s got a lovely temperament and is very friendly with people and other dogs and is looking for the perfect forever home. He will need vaccinating and castrating. Please share and pass the details on to anyone that you think might be interested and get in touch with Natalie Holtappel email bryning@hotmail.co.uk or phone 07957 593047

Vogue is home

Our Vogue is home after a couple of months with our friend Louise Farnworth. Sadly is didn't work out, nobody's fault just not meant to be. While with Louise she qualified for Crufts. Thanks Louise for looking after her so well. Our girl will not be going anywhere again but she may still be shown by Louise on our behalf as she enjoyed it so much.

Views from today's ride out

Looking back across to home from the top of Sough Lane
Top end of a new bridle path views back towards Ossy
 Over the moors at Belthorn
The best view in the world :-)
Top of Red Shell lane on the way home.

A few phone pics of the view on our ride out this morning. We went exploring accross the Grane road to check out the new bridle paths that will take us accross the West Pennine Moors when finished. There are some great rides opening up around here and we're having lots of fun.

Mouthing Wish

Started Mouthing Wish this weekend. Had to buy a new mouthing bit...can't imagine what happened to my other one ;-) Also gave her a bath, she was a very good girl and we're finally getting somewhere with having her feet handled. As she's so wide I treated her to a barefoot treeless saddle too for when she's broken in.

Mouse in action

We were delighted to receive Mouse's first flyball dog award this week. She's already 3/4 of the way to her next one. Some photo's of Mouse in training. Well done Mouse we are very proud of you.

Wish in training

Lunged Wish for the first time today. She's a bit more of a challenge than Rohan and we had a couple of paddies but she soon settled and started listening.

Educating Rohan

Lunged Rohan for the first time in his riding tack today. He was such a good boy, this pony just lives to please you and such a quick learner. The bottom photo is Poppy who will be spending time with Rohan during the school holidays and helping to back him and get him going under saddle.

Driving

Took Rohan a little drive out yesterday, not far as he's still only young but he was a very good boy. Then Alistair and I drove Oliver down to Frank and Julies, he was really good but very very keen thank goodness I bought him a liverpool and didn't try driving him in his riding bit lol. Really enjoyed himself, he's obviously happy to be back in harness....not sure my arms agree this morning though!!

Fabulous Weekend

What a fabulous weekend we have had. I don't usually post about riding our horses and its hardly news but as it's been the first decent weekend weatherwise we've had they deserve a mention. Had some great rides out this weekend even if Oliver has forgotten what sunshine and shadows were and was hopping around the roads like a kangaroo lol. After a few weeks off due to being gelded Rohan is now going in his cart. We need to get the shafts narrowed a bit but he was fine took to it like a duck to water. Very pleased as this is the first pony I've ever broken to drive.....Wish's turn next :-) Saturday saw Mouse away to a flyball competition with Natalie and all the teams doing well. Mouse's team got a 3rd. Well done Mouse I am so proud of you. Sunday saw the arrival of Ace...Nat's new horse. She is a 2 year old Traditional Cob x Thoroughbred filly. Already broken to drive such a stunner.

Our Camping Weekend

What a brilliant weekend we had away camping at a Flyball Tournament at Larden Green run by the Chilli Peppers Flyball Team. The weather was good (most of the time) and it was great being able to take all the dogs they had a great time. Especially Millie wandering round everyone else's pitches making friends with everyone and their dogs. Saturday night saw a meal and a good band and everyone had a great time. Met some great folks. Can't wait to do it all again. Photo's can be seen on our Facebook Page.

Blackpool Champ Show

Braved the horrendous weather conditions yesterday and went to Blackpool Championship Show. Thankfully had only entered Ringo and delighted that he won Puppy Dog. The conditions were horrendous, even the indoor rings were under water, but luckily we didn't need towing off the field and sadly the show has been abandoned for the rest of the weekend. Hoping (praying actually) that the weather improves for next weekend when we're all away camping at a flyball tournament. Should be fun :-)

What a brilliant day

What a brilliant day we have had.....Took the long journey to Border Union where Ringo won both his classes...Had a great time catching up with friends and despite the rain really enjoyed our day. Meanwhile on the Wirral our Mousy was with Natalie and Demon Dogz Flyball team and ran in her first open competition. She went really well picking up her first Flyball award and even better the team won the division. Well done guys and so proud of our Mousinator....She has come so far.

One man and his horsey :-)

Finally the rain stopped and Alistair got to take Dee Dee out. She is such a good girl we couldn't have asked for a better horse. We had a lovely hack out with me and Oliver (although he was a naught boy still showing off the new girl) and Natalie and Jack.
